TEACHING…
Teaching is an integral part of Rebecca’s career and she currently works for a number of educational authorities around Scotland. Within her Lower Strings teaching, she incorporates aspects of the Kodaly approach and she is also a qualified colourstrings cello tutor. Rebecca is keen to share with others the enjoyment that she gains from playing the cello and enjoys the interaction between teacher and pupil.
Angus Council - Rebecca works two days a week for Angus Council; at Monifieth High School, Seaview Primary School, Liff Primary School and Birkhill Primary School. She is also an orchestral coach for the Junior String Orchestra in Arbroath.
East Renfrewshire Council - Rebecca works for the Colourstrings Saturday Centre at Williamwood High School in Glasgow. Throughout the morning she teaches Colourstring Cello, leads the Singing Games Sessions and co-conducts the Colourstrings Orchestra.
Glasgow City Council - Rebecca works one day a week as Cello Tutor at Croftfoot Primary School, Mount Florida Primary School and Kings Park Primary School.
The National Youth Choir of Scotland and The Youth Music Initiative - Rebecca leads musicianship classes for both NYCOS and The Youth Music Initiative throughout Glasgow and Stirling.
Rebecca is now also working for Falkirk Council on a temporary basis in Larbert High School, Kinnaird Primary and Ladeside Primary. Cello lessons have never been offered in Kinnaird Primary before so this is a very exciting new venture. Rebecca also coaches the cello section for the Senior Orchestra on a Monday night.
Competitions - In November 2007, Rebecca was invited to judge the Brechin High School Annual Strings Competition.
